Freedom Cannabis Inc. Receives Cultivation and Medicinal Sales Licences from Health Canada
Freedom Cannabis Inc. (“Freedom” or the “Company”) is very pleased to announce it has received its licence to cultivate for Phase 1 of its indoor grow facility located near west Edmonton in Acheson, Alberta. The Company is also pleased to announce the concurrent receipt of its licence to sell cannabis for medical purposes.
“Receiving our cultivation licence and medicinal sales licence together is a major milestone for Freedom. The team is preparing to plant the first harvest in the coming weeks and will initially produce high quality flower and extracts in anticipation of servicing the demands of the medicinal and adult use cannabis markets in Canada and abroad” says Ed Bereznicki, Freedom’s Lead Advisor.
Freedom’s “commercial scale/craft quality” strategy utilizes smaller gardening areas and small batch cultivation techniques to mitigate risk and improve yields and quality. The Company believes this growing methodology, combined with its large and diverse genetics portfolio, will enable Freedom to offer a very impressive variety of high quality cannabis products.
With the successful licensing of Phase 1, Freedom expects to produce over 3,000 kilograms of dry cannabis per year. Freedom’s first harvest, including its compulsory test crops, is expected to occur in approximately 4 months.
Following the successful start-up of Phase 1, Freedom will continue with the buildout of Phase 2 of its 126,000 square foot (total) indoor grow facility. Located entirely within the existing building envelope, Phase 2 is expected to add an additional 12,000 kilograms per year of production capacity. In addition, construction of Freedom’s laboratory facilities will continue, including extraction, analytics and R&D.
Over the next few months, Freedom will continue adding to its talented team. In particular, individuals with quality assurance, gardening, operations, lab, packaging and marketing experience, among others, are invited to visit the Company’s website at www.freedomcannabis.ca to submit their interest.
Founded by Gianfranco Potestio, Troy Dezwart and Julie Girard-Potestio, Freedom is value driven and committed to a culture of sustainability, compassion and high standards.
