Banksy Collection Becomes Permanent Installation at Toronto’s Newest Cannabis Store
Toronto, Ontario–(Newsfile Corp. – June 15, 2020) – The city’s newest retail cannabis store, part of the Tokyo Smoke brand, is now open.
The work of Banksy, the British street artist, known for his mystery, subversive subject matter, and civil disobedience is finding a new home in a Toronto cannabis store. This week, an all-new Tokyo Smoke cannabis retail store opens at 21 Bloor St. E., featuring some of the artist’s most celebrated works, as well as some never-before-seen in Canada.
Store owner, Rob Heydon, wants to delight the community by installing part of his private art collection, featuring several works by Banksy and other disruptive artists, like Kaws, Pure Evil, and Warhol as a permanent exhibition at this Tokyo Smoke location. “In these strange times, it felt fitting to allow customers to browse, shop and learn about cannabis while enjoying some art while waiting patiently as we practise social distancing,” says store owner Heydon, a Canadian producer and director who won the AGCO retail license lottery last August. Tokyo Smoke, a subsidiary retail and cannabis brand owned by Canopy Growth Corp., represents a chain of legal retail franchises in Canada, where warm, frank and accurate conversations about cannabis take place.
Tokyo Smoke 21 Bloor St. E. opening month will feature select items for up to 40% off.
Tokyo Smoke’s newest flagship store is wheelchair accessible and features thoughtful physical distancing reminders throughout, including plexiglass dividers at the retail counter. Education specialists are trained to help consumers make well-informed decisions about the products they take home. Cannabis products are organized via Tokyo Smoke’s Intent system, which breaks products down into five categories aligned with objectives like relaxing, resting, or having fun. Within each Intent, consumers can find all formats currently available on the legal market, from vape pens to cannabis flower, infused oils, capsules and sprays. Education specialists are ready to answer all questions or take orders.
Before you make the trip to Tokyo Smoke, be sure to bring a piece of valid, government-issued photo ID. Only visitors with valid identification will be able to enter the store.
