HERZLIYA, Israel and CALGARY, AB, Aug. 29, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Innocan Pharma Corporation (CSE: INNO) (FSE: IP4) (OTCQB: INNPF) (the “Company” or “Innocan”) is pleased to announce the results of a clinical study regarding the pain-relieving effects and safety of the Company’s subcutaneous liposomal CBD (Innocan’s LPT platform) for dogs with osteoarthritis. Published in the Frontiers in Veterinary Science Journal, under the research topic “Use of Cannabis Derivatives in Veterinary Medicine” (the “Study”). The Study highlights that CBD plasma levels were detected for six weeks following a single subcutaneous dose of Liposomal-CBD, causing minimal side effects and effectively decreasing pain, leading to improved well-being in affected dogs.

In the study, six dogs with naturally-occurring osteoarthritis, unresponsive to conventional medications, were treated with a single injection of five mg/kg liposomal-CBD (in addition to their routine medications). The subsequent observations spanned six weeks and included measuring CBD plasma concentrations, blood work, collar activity data, and evaluations of well-being and pain. The results were encouraging; dogs exhibited a substantial drop in pain levels and an uptick in activity.

Key findings include:

  • Prolonged CBD detection in the plasma with a peak concentration of 45.2 (17.8-72.5) ng/mL.
  • Significant decrease in pain and increase in well-being for several weeks.
  • Significant increase in activity (objectively measured) by the fifth and sixth weeks.
  • Minor swelling at the injection site in five out of six dogs, which resolved within a few days without any treatment.

The study underscores the effectiveness and increased bioavailability of LPT-CBD tested as part of a multimodal pain management in dogs with osteoarthritis. With the drug’s plasma concentrations detectable for six weeks and high exposure in terms of AUC (area under the concentration-time curve), the research suggests that this liposomal formulation could become a useful addition to pain management strategies for improving the quality of life in dogs with osteoarthritis.

Published

on

innocan-pharma-announces-successful-preliminary-safety-evaluation-of-lpt-cbd-in-minipigs

HERZLIYA, Israel and CALGARY, AB, June 11, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Innocan Pharma Corporation (CSE: INNO) (FSE: IP4) (OTCQB: INNPF) (“Innocan” or the “Company”), a pioneer in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, is pleased to announce the success and conclusion of a preliminary safety evaluation of Innocan’s single injection and sustained-release LPT-CBD conducted on minipigs. The animals demonstrated excellent drug tolerance and did not exhibit any drug-related adverse events.

Recognized by the FDA as an excellent model for toxicology, small breeds of miniature domestic pigs known as minipigs share strong similarities with humans in crucial aspects such as drug metabolism, skin structure, genetics, and physiological mechanisms. In this preliminary safety study, minipigs received a single subcutaneous injection of LPT-CBD and were closely monitored for pharmacokinetics and basic safety parameters over one month. Encouragingly, the animals all exhibited good drug tolerance and did not manifest any drug-related adverse reactions.

“We are thrilled with these findings, which further underpin the safety profile of LPT-CBD following a single injection,” commented Dr. Eyal Kalo, the R&D Director of Innocan Pharma. “With each new data point collected for LPT-CBD, we make significant strides in our quest to revolutionize patient care through sustained-release therapy. Our efforts to continuously gather data to fully characterize LPT-CBD are paramount in our journey towards its ultimate approval.”

Professor Chezy Barenholz the CSO of Innocan Pharma added, “These results are immensely gratifying and hold significant promise as they highlight the characteristics of LPT-CBD in a physiological setting similar to humans.”

The study involved administering three ascending doses of LPT-CBD via subcutaneous injection in minipigs, followed by comprehensive monitoring of pharmacokinetics and safety parameters for 28 days. Throughout the study, the minipigs demonstrated excellent drug tolerance, as evidenced by blood clinical parameters whithin normal range, healthy appetite, and normal behavior. These findings are consistent with prior safety evaluations conducted with LPT-CBD on diverse animal models including goats and dogs, affirming the drug’s favorable tolerability profile following both single and repeated use.

Grant of Restricted Share Units

The Company has granted an aggregate of 290,000 restricted share units (each, an “RSU“) to consultants. Each RSU entitles the recipient to receive one common share of the Company (a “Common Share“) on vesting. A total of 150,000 RSUs vest on May 30, 2024, and 140,000 RSUs vest on September 30, 2024. The RSUs and the underlying Common Shares are subject to a statutory hold period of four months and one day expiring on October 1, 2024.

Innocan also announces that it granted 2,380,000 stock options to employees and consultants to the Company. These options have a strike price of $0.28, with various vesting periods up to 12 months. All options expire on May 30, 2029.

Innocan Pharma Reports Breakthrough in a Pre-Clinical Trial: Liposomal-CBD Injection Restores Mobility to an Amputee Female Donkey

Published

on

innocan-pharma-reports-breakthrough-in-a-pre-clinical-trial:-liposomal-cbd-injection-restores-mobility-to-an-amputee-female-donkey

HERZLIYA, Israel and ALGARY, AB, May 9, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Innocan Pharma Corporation (CSE: INNO) (FSE: IP4) (OTCQB: INNPF) (“Innocan” or the “Company”), a pioneer in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, is pleased to announce the successful pre-clinical treatment with a liposomal-CBD injection in a female donkey. Innocan’s innovative therapy provided immediate noticeable pain relief and improved mobility.

Miri, a 7-year-old female donkey, underwent amputation of her right front limb at a young age, resulting in a weight burden primarily borne by her left front limb. Consequently, she developed laminitis in her left front limb, an inflammatory disease affecting the soft tissue that connects the foot bone to the hoof, seemingly causing extreme pain and limited mobility. Over time, Miri’s condition worsened, culminating in the formation of a abscess in the affected hoof, which appeared to have intensified her pain. Despite receiving pain relief medications, Miri found no respite, was unable to move, and her caregivers were advised to euthanize her.

As an act of compassionate therapy, the female donkey was administered a liposomal-CBD injection. The effect was immediate, with Miri becoming active and roaming the farm. Following the liposomal-CBD injection, the abscess in her affected foot healed, and Miri regained her ability to walk and move as she did before her laminitis developed.

“Thanks to our innovative liposomal-CBD injection, we are thrilled to have brought relief to Miri, eliminating the need for euthanasia,” commented Iris Bincovich, CEO of Innocan. “Once again, Innocan has shown liposomal-CBD to be effectively active for pain relief and well-being. We see this pre-clinical treatment as strong evidence of liposomal-CBD’s potential to improve the lives of animal patients and potentially human patients.”

“Laminitis is a crippling condition well familiar and common in horses,” said Prof Chezy Barenholz, the Chief Scientific Officer of Innocan. “The disease results in severe pain condition, representing another big market for liposomal-CBD with great potential to treat horses. Innocan is dedicated to advancing the development of CBD-based therapeutics for various indications in both humans and animals.”
